Dahulu kala, ada seorang lelaki tua kaya yang tinggal di Vietnam. Dia memiliki dua putra. Mereka memiliki sikap yang sangat berbeda. Kakak laki-laki itu sangat serakah, tetapi adik laki-lakinya sangat baik. Ketika lelaki tua itu meninggal, saudara-saudara membagi kekayaan ayahnya menjadi dua bagian. Kakak laki-laki itu mengambil hampir semuanya. Dia memberi adiknya hanya sebidang kecil tanah, dengan pohon belimbing di depannya. Adik laki-laki itu tidak keberatan.
